Douglass Academy students returned to school on July 18, 2019 and were surprised by brand new school supplies. The Roger Bacon Academy, Douglass Academy’s management company, distributed high quality binders (free of charge) to over 2,200 students in its family of four charter schools. Each binder includes the phrase “excellent work” to provide students with positive reinforcement. Douglass Academy and The Roger Bacon Academy consider positive reinforcement to be one of the most effective methods in motivating students.
Nikki Chaney, Headmaster of Douglass Academy, commented, “Our students love their new binders! We are excited to see them used for reading, writing, math, science, and Latin! We give huge thanks to The Roger Bacon Academy and are proud to be part of our charter school family!”
Douglass Academy is one of four charter schools managed by The Roger Bacon Academy, Inc. founded in 1999 by education pioneer Baker Mitchell. The other schools include Charter Day School in Leland, Columbus Charter School in Whiteville, and South Brunswick Charter School in Southport with a combined enrollment of over 2,200 students in K-8. All four are tuition-free, charter schools that welcome all students, regardless of income, ability, or address. To learn more or enroll online, please visit EnrollRBA.com
